Social Media Scam Prevention

The most important thing for you to know is that TitleMax will NEVER reach out to you through social media, ask for your personal or payment information, or conduct any business via any social platform.

Bad actors are no longer confined to your TV screens and streaming platforms. Unfortunately, these would-be criminals are turning to social media prey on people including, at times, TitleMax customers. While we are constantly working to shut down these cyber criminals, it’s increasingly important for you to play defense when using any social media platform.

Our Official Social Media Pages

TitleMax has an official Facebook page, an official Instagram account, and an X account. Currently, we are not active on any other social media site, and we will update this blog post to reflect any changes to our social media presence. While we briefly had pages for individual TitleMax store locations on Facebook, we no longer have pages associated with any specific location.

What We DO on Social Media

Our social media pages exist to share resources and information with our customers. So what do our approved posts look like?

From time to time, we post special notices about store closings, extreme weather, and fun things happening at our company.

We post information about the loans we offer—how they work and why they might be a fit for you—and educational resources about topics like budgeting, debt management, and online safety.

We also respond to reviews, comments, and direct messages about our services. However, we do not reach out to anyone directly. We only reply.

We will always direct anyone who contacts us regarding account information or applying to reach out to TitleMax by visiting the nearest store or calling our customer service team. Ensuring customers know who to reach out to is one of the ways we work to keep our customers and their accounts safe. You can always contact us at 1-88-TITLEMAX with any questions you might have about your account.

What We DON’T DO on Social Media

It’s important to remain vigilant and to recognize when something is outside of the normal TitleMax social media behavior. Keep in mind that the following are things we will never do through social media:

We DON’T make special loan offers on our social media pages. Our loans are in alignment with all state and federal regulations which means our loans do not change in order to create a “special offer” of any kind.

We DON’T offer one-to-one counseling or advice regarding finances, loans, or debt management.

We DON’T contact customers regarding an account, payments, applying for a loan, or any other business matter through a social media account.

We DON’T make posts specifying how much someone can borrow from TitleMax because lending amounts are subject to approval and to state lending limits.

We DON’T accept loan applications or personal identifying information through our social media page. Applying online is only available through our official website and is only applicable where online applications are available.

Personal and Payment Information

Personal information including your name, your address, your birthdate, your social security number, and job information are all secure when entered through our official application process. We will never ask for any of your personal information through social media. We will never ask for your security code through social media. We will never reach out to you on social media regarding your account status or to ask for a payment. You can access your account details, make payments, and check on upcoming payments by visiting your Online Account. There is no way to check your account status through social media.

Reporting Fraud

If you suspect that you are a victim of fraud, or if you receive any communication through social media asking for your personal or payment information, please report the incident by calling 1-844-95-FRAUD. With a commitment to reporting all fraud attempts, everyone can be part of the changes needed to create a safer space on social media.
